Delanely Wolkov, a recent graduate from the University of San Diego School of Law, was surprised to receive the Finch, Thornton & Baird, LLP Build California Scholarship Fund. This $5,000 scholarship is typically awarded to students interested in construction, engineering, or architecture, but Wolkov’s academic excellence in corporations and contracts caught the committee’s eye.
Despite her aspirations to pursue a career in public defense, Wolkov found alignment with the values of Finch, Thornton & Baird. Our shared beliefs of proactive advocacy and commitment to justice resonated deeply with her own professional aspirations. Though her immediate career trajectory may differ, Delanely’s dedication to serving marginalized communities reflects a parallel commitment to making a meaningful impact, mirroring the firm’s proactive approach to legal representation.
Delanely’s journey has not been without challenges. Balancing academic pursuits with personal responsibilities, including caring for her mother who suffers from bipolar disorder, tested her resilience. Yet, in the face of adversity, she persevered.
